
The swearing-in ceremony for newly-elected Caddo Parish District Attorney James E. Stewart, Sr., is set for this week.It starts at 2 p.m. tomorrow (December 29) at RiverView Theater on Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport, and will be followed by a reception in the foyer. The event is free and open to the public.
Stewart’s campaign theme was ‘Tough on Crime. Justice for All.’ He garnered 55% of the votes during the November 21 runoff against Dhu Thompson.
“I’ve had the honor of serving Caddo Parish residents for 35 years as Appellate Court Judge, Caddo District Court Judge, First Assistant District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney,” Stewart said during his campaign. “I have prosecuted and presided over thousands of felony cases. I promise to be tough on crime, and protect our families and children.”
He is one of the original founders of the Louisiana Judicial Council of the National Bar Association. He has had the privilege of serving on the Executive Committee as well as being a past President. As one of the incorporators of the Louisiana Judicial Council of the National Bar Association Foundation he served as Vice President of its Executive Board and as the Webmaster in charge of overseeing the composition and content of the organization’s website.
